Title: Program Manager- Grant Writer
Location: Washington, DC
Reports to: Director of Development

Position Description: The Grant Writer Program Manager will assist the Director of Development by pursuing funding opportunities from a variety of sources, preparing new or renewal grant proposals and participating in fundraising drives. The incumbent is responsible for identifying sources with shared interests and values likely to provide financial support. Funding sources may include corporate foundations, government programs, other nonprofits, or individual donors. Through written proposals and other forms of communication, the Grant Writer Program Manager will promote the organization and its causes, persuading donors to contribute financial support. The incumbent will have significant interaction with donor officials throughout the grant process. This includes cultivating ongoing relationships in general and ensuring that donor requirements and/or commitments are fulfilled as per agreements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepares grant applications and fundraising proposals under the Director of Development’s supervision and jointly presents proposals with the Director of Development.
  • Assists the Director of Development in developing and maintaining financial objectives and fundraising goals for the organization.
  • Assists the Director of Development and other stakeholders with public fundraising drives.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Development and departmental supervisors to prepare annual budgets and projections.
  • Research fundraising efforts by studying literature and mailings available from government funding sources, private foundations, and other potential funders.
  • Modifies grant applications to conform to grant requirements when necessary.
  • Creates and distributes promotional materials for fundraising efforts such as sell reports.
  • Serves as the liaison with the Programs Team to collect, compile and report information on participation numbers to report back to funders.
  • Creates quarterly and annual report pertaining to grant and funding contributions.
  • Oversees, manages, and tracks all Grant cycles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Marketing or similar types of degrees.

  • Ability to cultivate positive working relationships with partners, sponsors, and funders.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Strong ability to develop work plans, set deadlines, prioritize, manage multiple projects and duties simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and manage programs and assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent time management skills to be able to meet strict deadlines


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum five years of fundraising experience and nonprofit sector experience highly preferred.

United States Citizen or Permanent Resident Required

Special Note: Due to current pandemic guidance, the person will be telecommuting until further notice. They may be asked to occasionally come to the office.

Position Details:
Salary Range: $ 60,000/year plus benefits
Commensurate according to years of experience. All employees must meet a 6-month probationary period. Continuation of this position after one year is dependent on the successful candidate meeting jointly determined performance goals.
