Samantha Ramos Alva

Samantha Ramos Alva serves as a Mass Media and Communications Fellow at LULAC's National Office in Washington, D.C., during the summer of 2026. A recent graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, she earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Public Policy. Samantha transferred from Diablo Valley College and graduated in May 2026 as a first-generation college student and former English Language Development (ELD) learner.

Her academic and professional experiences have shaped a deep commitment to educational equity, language access, and support for multilingual students. Through California College Corps, Samantha provides one-on-one academic support to high school students in multilingual learner programs, helping students navigate academic challenges and build confidence in their educational journeys.

Samantha is also a Firebaugh Scholar, conducting research on how educational systems influence the experiences, sense of belonging, and academic outcomes of multilingual students. In addition, she participates in NAVCAL, a UC Berkeley program focused on academic advising, mentorship, and community-building for students navigating higher education pathways.

Previously, Samantha served as a Student Ambassador at Diablo Valley College, supporting outreach efforts and helping prospective and current students access educational opportunities and campus resources. Throughout her academic career, she has been a strong advocate for Latino students, multilingual learners, and first-generation college students.

Through her work at LULAC, Samantha hopes to strengthen Latino representation in media, policy, and public service while advancing educational opportunities for future generations of students.
