Miguel Diaz Gutierrez

Miguel Diaz Gutierrez is a Research and Policy Fellow at LULAC's National Office in Washington, D.C., during the summer of 2026. A first-generation Mexican American who grew up in Dallas, Texas, Miguel is an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania studying Economics and Political Science, with minors in American Public Policy and Cognitive Science.

Miguel has been an active campus leader and advocate for educational opportunity, immigrant communities, and civil rights. At Penn, he has served as Chair of the DREAM Program, mentoring youth and helping address opportunity gaps, and as a fundraising member of Penn for Immigrant Rights.

His professional experience spans the nonprofit, research, and legal sectors. Through his work with the Partnership for Public Service, he supported leadership development initiatives for federal agency officials. He has also conducted political economy research examining the effects of tariffs and gained legal experience at a family law firm serving Latino and immigrant communities.

At LULAC, Miguel focuses on federal economic and regulatory policy, as well as state-level resource guides related to immigrant protections and legal rights. His work is driven by a strong interest in the intersection of economic policy, social justice, and community empowerment.

Following graduation, Miguel hopes to pursue a career in public policy and law, helping ensure that economic opportunity and civic participation are accessible to all communities.
