Lizeth Beatriz Gil López

Lizeth Gil López is a Research and Policy Fellow with LULAC's National Office in Washington, D.C. She is also a Graduate Fellow in the Archer Fellowship Program of the University of Texas System and a Doctoral Fellow in ConTex, a bilateral scholarship initiative between the Government of Mexico and the University of Texas System.

Lizeth is pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Demography at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). She holds bachelor's degrees in Law and Communication Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a master's degree in Demography from El Colegio de México.

Before beginning her doctoral studies, Lizeth built an extensive career in Mexico's federal public sector, where she worked on the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of public policies focused on social and territorial development. She has also contributed to national and international research projects on rural governance, food security, and regional development.

Her research interests center on territorial development, demographic change, migration, and the economic impacts of population aging at the local level. Since Fall 2025, she has served as a Research Assistant at UTSA's Institute for Demographic and Socioeconomic Research, supporting applied demographic research projects, including data analysis initiatives conducted in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation.
