Steven Hector Gaytan

Steven Hector Gaytan is a Research & Policy Fellow at the LULAC national office in Washington, D.C. for Spring 2026. He is originally from San Bernardino County, California, and is completing his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). At UCI, he studies Public Health Policy and is very dedicated to contributing to his community. He serves as a Dean’s Student Ambassador for the Joe C. Wen School of Population & Public Health, an Idea Exchange Group (IEG) Facilitator for a high-enrollment HIV/AIDS course, and also contributes to the Santa Ana, California, community as a Research Assistant with the Inequities of Childhood Life-Course Lead Exposure and Academic and Neurodevelopmental Outcomes (I-CLEAN) study. Gaytan has a keen interest in advancing health equity in underserved or marginalized communities, like the Hispanic/Latino community, as well as HIV/AIDS-related health education and stigma. In the future he plans on pursuing a graduate degree in health policy to address the structural inequities that populations face concerning healthcare.
