Avril Danielle Rayo

Avril Rayo is a Research and Policy Fellow at the LULAC national office in Washington, D.C. She is a first-generation college student at the University of California, Santa Cruz, pursuing a double major in Politics, Latin American and Latino Studies, and Environmental Studies. Raised in Van Nuys in the San Fernando Valley, she comes from the center of a Latino immigrant community that has shaped how she sees the law and who it serves.

At a time when Latino communities are under sustained pressure, Avril has turned that experience into focus. She is pursuing immigration reform through law and public policy, with LULAC as her entry point into the legislative space. Her work is grounded and practical. She has served as a campus ambassador and residential life advisor, led research projects, and worked with restorative justice nonprofits.
