Christian Gabriel Acosta Zuniga

Christian Gabriel Acosta Zuniga is a Research and Policy Fellow at LULAC's National Office in Washington, D.C., during the summer of 2026. Having grown up in Houston, Texas, he is pursuing a double major in Public Health Studies and Political Science at Johns Hopkins University.

A first-generation immigrant from Honduras and college student, Christian is passionate about public service, health policy, and expanding access to health care, education, and economic opportunity for Latino and immigrant communities. As an Advising Fellow with Matriculate, he mentors high school students through the college application process, helping them navigate essays, financial aid, and higher education opportunities. He also served as a Teaching Fellow and Family Lead with Breakthrough Houston, where he taught and mentored students while supporting their academic and personal development.

Christian is also an active volunteer with Salud, providing Spanish-language translation and outreach services at community vaccine clinics and educational programs for Latino youth. His interest in global public health has been shaped by study abroad experiences in Costa Rica, where he examined issues related to immigration, rural development, water security, labor, and universal health care.

At LULAC, Christian contributes to research, legislative tracking, and advocacy efforts focused on health care access, education policy, and civil rights issues at both the federal and state levels. He is also an alumnus of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's NextGen Latino Leadership Program, which strengthened his commitment to public service and civic leadership.

Christian hopes to pursue a career at the intersection of health, law, and public policy, advancing equitable opportunities for underserved communities.
