Audrey Colocho

Audrey Colocho serves as a Mass Media and Communications Fellow at LULAC's National Office in Washington, D.C., during the summer of 2026. Having grown up in Lawndale, California, she is a rising senior at the University of California, Berkeley, where she majors in Legal Studies and minors in Human Rights and Race & Law.

At Berkeley, Audrey has been actively involved in several research initiatives through the Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP) and the Social Sciences Research Program (SSRP). Her most notable project, conducted in partnership with Human Rights Watch, helped corroborate testimony from former detainees transferred by U.S. authorities to El Salvador's CECOT prison. The investigation later received national attention through coverage by 60 Minutes. She has also contributed to research examining how medical terminology is used in court proceedings involving allegations of excessive force by law enforcement.

Beyond her research, Audrey serves as Legal Affairs and Policy Executive Director for the Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC), where she has helped advance legislation addressing student concerns and university governance issues.

This fall, Audrey will participate in a human rights program in Argentina and Chile, where she will engage with local advocacy efforts and further develop her understanding of international human rights practice. Following graduation, she plans to attend law school and pursue a career focused on international human rights, with aspirations of working for organizations such as the United Nations or the International Criminal Court to advance transparency, accountability, and justice.
