Washington, D.C. - LULAC congratulates Dr. Libby Doggett for her appointment as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Early Learning at the U.S. Department of Education. Dr. Doggett will preside over the Office of Early Learning within the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE).

“We can reduce the education gaps that are most prevalent among minority communities by expanding access to high-quality early learning programs,” said LULAC National President Margaret Moran. “Unfortunately, because these programs have been drastically cut, Latino children will start kindergarten already at a disadvantage. We know that with Dr. Doggett at the helm of directing the Office of Early Learning at the Department we have a strong advocate ensuring our kids have every resource they need to succeed.”

LULAC will work with Dr. Doggett in ensuring that these critical programs to our community are reinstated.
