Resolution To Recognize the Equal Rights and Benefits that the Veterans and Soldiers of Puerto Rico Should Have

So that the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) may join the efforts of various sectors from Puerto Rico and the United States that are promoting Congress and President Barack H. Obama to recognize and approve the equal rights and benefits that the veterans and soldiers of Puerto Rico should have.

WHEREAS, over 200,000 Puerto Ricans have served with dignity, bravery and commitment in the armed forces of the United States of America.

WHEREAS, these men and women who reside in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory, have left behind their families and home, in order to tight for the purpose of guaranteeing equal human rights tor everyone.

WHEREAS, even though they are considered equal tor offering their lives in order to serve the armed forces and protecting the values of the nation, once they arrive back home they lack the same benefits and services that veterans who reside in the other states receive.

WHEREAS, LULAC of Puerto Rico newly receives the support of our veterans, and military families for the battle of equal rights and benefits in the island of enchantment.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, once this resolution is approved at a national level, it shall be sent to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and the United States Congress.
