ACTION ALERT: Urge your Senators to Support the Minimum Wage Fairness Act

A Raise in the Minimum Wage is a Critical Civil Rights Issue

Raising the Federal minimum wage is a critical civil rights issue which would make a significant difference in the lives of millions of low-wage workers and their families. Latinos experience disproportionately high rates of poverty, as a result, an increase in the minimum wage would greatly benefit the Hispanic population. In fact, increasing the Federal minimum wage would benefit the entire nation’s economic recovery.

To that end, LULAC and the LCCREF have collaborated on an informational fact sheet that provides important data on the benefits that raising the minimum wage would have on the Latino community.

If you would like to access the fact sheet in Spanish, please click here or in English, please click here.

Your Action is Needed!

Call your Senators now, and urge them to support the Minimum Wage Fairness Act (S. 2223)! The bill would raise the Federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10/hour by 2016. This bill would also adjust the rate as the cost of living increases and raise the wage for tipped workers, which, for more than 20 years, has stood at $2.13/hour.
