Summary:
The Development Coordinator will report to the Director of Development who oversees corporate, foundation, and federal outreach, fundraising and grant proposal writing for the LULAC Programs Department. The ideal candidate will have one year experience in fundraising and proposal writing for nonprofits.

Primary duties will include grant proposal research, outreach to new partners, grant writing, grant program tracking and reporting. The position will conduct research on existing and prospective corporate, foundation, and federal funders; develop and record best practices for the Development Department; and administer a data management system to keep track of vital donor histories. Assist in other duties to execute corporate outreach activities and support the general operations of the LULAC National Office.

Education:
B.A. degree required;

Experience:
One-year of grant proposal writing and fundraising experience preferred;
Familiarity with LULAC’s mission and history, as well as nonprofits, advocacy organizations in general;
A strong desire to empower and improve the quality of life of Latino communities in the U.S. and Puerto Rico;
Exceptional attention to detail;
Strong writing skills;
Expertise in conducting online research;
Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Word and Excel;
Prefer experience with design software such as Adobe InDesign to develop promotional materials and databases, such as FileMaker Pro for record keeping;
Strong organizational and administrative skills, and a quick learner;
Flexibility with regard to schedule, working hours, and assignments, including ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary;
Resourcefulness and a persistent can-do attitude;
Proficiency in oral and written English and Spanish desired;
Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, develop work plans, set deadlines, work with minimal supervision, manage multiple projects and duties simultaneously, prioritize, and recognize when it is appropriate to seek guidance from supervisor and to keep him informed.

Responsibilities:
Grant proposal writing;
Research corporate, foundation and federal funding sources and acquire data from secondary sources to support new programs and partnerships;
Schedule meetings with funders;
Assist in the planning, writing, and packaging of grant proposals and budgets;
Collaborate with Development and Program teams to draft and submit grant progress reports;
Coordinate with the funder and the Development, Program, and Communications departments to ensure the successful launch of new programs;
Develop publications, presentations and other marketing materials for sponsors and LULAC members to highlight LULAC’s excellent programs;
Help organize fundraising outreach activities and corporate advisory board meetings;
Develop a manual of best practices for the Resource Development Department;
Maintain a database of funders;
Develop a fundraising and grant proposal writing training for LULAC councils (PowerPoint, webinar, print version, in-person training, etc);
Data entry and other administrative duties as assigned;
Work with Technology Director and Program Department to ensure all programs are well represented on the LULAC Website;
Provide relevant content for the weekly LULAC National Update e-newsletter and the LULAC News;
Assist in compiling the annual report, working with the Fiscal, Program, Policy, Events, Executive, and other relevant departments to highlight all LULAC programs, events, and advocacy for the year;
Develop new strategies for individual gift fundraising; and
A limited amount of time may also be spent supporting the Policy, Communications, and Events teams on special projects and other duties as assigned.
