Senior Fundraiser- Corporate Development
Location: Washington, D.C. / National Headquarters
Reports to: National Executive Director

Position Description: The Senior Fundraiser- Corporate Development positon is responsible for overall fundraising strategies for existing partners and for targeting new potential sponsors including corporations, grants, private foundations as well as federal and local government entities. Responsible for securing funding and in-kind resources to support the operations and organizations mission. Responsibilities include securing funds, assisting in the planning and execution for all national events sponsor agreements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifying major donors and prospects, including individuals, corporations, grant proposals and private foundations with potential to contribute gifts of $25,000+
  • Meeting measurable financial goals set for programs
  • Working directly with staff members to support corporate development functions and maintain an annual development plan
  • Researching potential new donors and encouraging existing donors to increase their sponsorship level
  • Initiating contact and cultivating relationships with potential donors, moving potential donors toward agreements and maintaining donor relationships between gifts
  • Maintaining necessary database records, files, reports, and resource materials pertinent to donors and gifts
  • Serving as the sponsor liaison with overall planning and organizing of organizational events agreements
  • Writing, developing and applying for grants
  • Reporting to the Director of Corporate Development and/or National Executive Director on fundraising goals and progress including individuals, corporations, grant proposals and private foundations

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher. Six years plus experience in fundraising and development. A combination of education and work related experience may be substituted for education
Proven track record of securing seven-figure, multi-year commitments from a variety of funding sources
An established network of contacts among foundations, and major donors
Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents
Excellent presentation skills and ability to strongly and effectively make the case for the organizations mission, and needs
Experience negotiating and securing financial commitments
High energy, results-oriented with personal initiative and collaborative approach to foster a strong team-oriented style
Experience working closely with a Board of Directors
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Power point, and an understanding of database management.
Ability to stay on task while working in a busy office with staff, interns, visitors, and program participants; agile and able to work in a fast-paced and, sometimes unpredictable, environment
Passionate commitment to and drive for organizations mission and vision

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication
  • Ability to manage responsibilities independently
  • Ability to work effectively with potential donors at high levels of corporations
  • Ability to cultivate positive working relationships
  • Detailed Oriented
  • Working knowledge of fundraising and development for nonprofit organizations
  • Experience with Internet tools, using social networks and online communication
  • Knowledge of database software

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Work Status: United State Citizen or Permanent Resident Required
Position Details: Full Time Position
Salary Range: $67,000-$72,000
Commensurate according to experience. Continuation of this position after one year is dependent on the successful candidate meeting jointly determined financial goals. Some travel may be required.

  • Accrual of 4 hours of sick time and 4 hours of vacation time per pay period.
